Das Netzwerk Altern informiert über einschlägige wissenschaftliche Aktivitäten und Veranstaltungen der NetzwerkpartnerInnen, bietet eine umfassende Projektdatenbank und gibt Auskunft über themenrelevante europäische Programme und Initiativen. Als nationale Servicestelle kann das Netzwerk Altern für Beratung und weiterführende Hinweise kontaktiert werden.

Vor dem Hintergrund einer Politik des „aktiven Alters“ wird das Alter immer mehr zu einer Lebensphase, die aktiv gestaltet werden will: Viele ältere Menschen weisen heute ein erhebliches kulturelles, soziales und politisches Aktivitätsniveau auf, gleichzeitig bleiben soziale Unterschiede und Ungleichheiten in der nachberuflichen Lebensphase bestehen. Diese Entwicklung stellt die Bildungs- und Beratungsarbeit mit älteren Menschen vor neue Herausforderungen.

Physical frailty: instruments for baseline characterisation of older populations in clinical trials (reflection paper)

The reflection paper describes how to characterise the baseline frailty status of older patients enrolled in clinical trials other than by their age. The aim is to ensure that clinical trial populations are representative of the users of the medicine, as the benefit-risk balance in older patients may depend on their physical frailty status. This supplements the requirements of ICH E7 note for guidance and questions and answers.

XIIIth Advanced Postgraduate Course in Geriatrics of the EAMA (2019 – 2020)

The board of the European Academy for Medicine of Ageing (EAMA) is looking for enthusiastic geriatricians to join the XIIIth EAMA course starting January 2019. The two-year course consists of four intense one-week sessions held twice a year in January and June. Each session covers a well balanced geriatric topic with experts from around the world.

Medizinische Universität Graz Autumn School „Care of older persons and chronic illness aspects“

The autumn course is adapted to the schedule of the 5th semester of the Bachelor programme  Nursing Science, but, of course, any interested students from other semesters and study programmes are welcome to join.

Social Inequalities in Mortality - The Increasing Advantage of the Married

It is widely known that better educated persons tend to live longer than the less educated. There is apparently less public and political awareness of the fact that marital status is also strongly associated with mortality. Yet, hundreds of studies carried out over more than 150 years have shown that those who are married have better health and live longer than those who are never-married, divorced or widowed.

ACTIVAGE Project Open Call

The objective of ACTIVAGE open call is to implement and deploy mature Internet of Things (IoT) solutions using the current European deployment sites’ IoT ecosystem for testing, demonstration and initial market take-up.

The call targets European SMEs, Mid-Caps and Start-ups legally registered in a member state of the European Union or in a Horizon 2020 associated country.

Budget: 600.000€, with a maximum of 10 projects funded.
