Das von der VolkswagenStiftung mit 1,5 Mio Euro geförderte Projekt startete im Februar 2023 und verfolgt zwei Hauptziele: (1) vergleichende, multidisziplinäre Forschung zu Narrativen des Alterns und des demografischen Wandels in Südosteuropa als einer Region, die repräsentativ für die Herausforderungen, aber auch Potenziale dieser Prozesse für Europa als Ganzes ist; (2) durch partizipative Ansätze dazu beizutragen, dass sich die vorherrschenden katastrophalen Darstellungen des Alterns in Richtung vielfältigerer und stärkender Darstellungen bewegen.

Gender Matters: Aging, Care, and Migration

Was bedeutet eine geschlechter- und intersektionalitätsensible Perspektive auf Alter(n), Care und Migration für das Verständnis der Narrative älterer Migrantinnen? Alter(n), Care und Migration zusammenzudenken, durch die kritische Linse der Geschlechter- und Intersektionalitätsforschung zu betrachten und aufeinander zu beziehen ist das Ziel des Projektes „Gender Matters: Aging, Care, and Migration“ im Rahmen des Elisabeth-List-Fellowships der Universität Graz. Die daraus erwachsenden Erkenntnisse nehmen die feministisch-kritischen (Care-)-Ethikerinnen und Alternswissenschafterinnen Prof.

Solche Erfahrungen wirken sich auf die Gesundheit und das Wohlbefinden aus, aber auch auf das Arbeitsumfeld in Bezug auf Produktivität und Sicherheit. Die Digitalisierung und der "grüne Wandel" haben die Anforderungen und Ressourcen von Arbeitsplätzen und Arbeitsumgebungen so beeinflusst, dass sich Arbeitnehmer:innen bei der Bewältigung von "End of Life-Erfahrungen" weniger oder nicht unterstützt fühlen können.

Aging in Data

Gefördert vom Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Projektleitung: Prof. Dr. Kim Sawchuck, Concordia University Aging in Data (AiD) ist ein Forschungsprojekt im ACT Lab der Concordia University in Montreal. Es bringt ein interdisziplinäres Netzwerk von Wissenschaftler:innen aus zehn Ländern, gemeindenahen Aktivist:innen und Organisationen zusammen.

Aging Health Capital

This project aims at investigating the development of old-age health capital from an international perspective. It will identify life course factors associated with cognitive and physical performance and the prevalence of noncommunicable diseases of the 50+ population in Europe, the United States, and Asia using several comparable national panel surveys on health and aging. The factors are characteristics on the individual, regional/neighborhood, and country level and are collected at different points during the life course.
